Local athlete Caden VerMaas has signed with Nebraska and will be the type of player that Rhule will look to create the heart and soul of the program.
VerMaas has the size 6-0 (190 lbs) to excel at multiple positions and is the prototype player a program like Iowa would develop into a special teams stud or tackle machine DB.
Top local talent must be nurtured in the development of Nebraska as they tend to stick around longer and have more invested in the program growing up with the Husker faithful. He could end up on both sides of the ball and it will be interesting to watch his progress in the coming years.
VerMaas is ranked 5th in Nebraska and 822nd nationally according to 247.
