Nebraska has yet to have the season it hoped for, with some disappointing performances that leave them 5-5 heading into the Wisconsin game. The schedule lined up, and the new phenom quarterback was in the saddle for what was expected to be a breakout year for the Huskers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the results have not gone their way, they have been making some waves in the recruiting trail, with the recent addition of linebacker Dawson Merritt (6-3\/215) turning some heads. Nebraska has been hot on the heels of other big-time recruits, and they look close to landing some of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Chase Loftin (6-6\/215)<\/strong> is a tight end committed to Florida State and is looking to exit a dumpster fire in Tallahassee. He is a top in-state player in Nebraska and would be a significant get in the recruiting class, as he would add to an impressive collection of local tight ends on the roster. He has been shopping around with Missouri and Texas A&M, looking like they are the primary competition going into signing day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cortez Mills (6\/165)<\/strong> is another highly ranked wide receiver out of Florida committed to Oklahoma but was recently spotted working out in Nebraska gear. To the credit of the recruiting staff, they never stopped recruiting him after he committed to the Sooners, and that effort appears to be bearing fruit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wide receiver has been an issue at Nebraska for nearly a decade, with a smattering of talent coming through the ranks, but it has yet to have a consistent stream of skilled players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael Terry III (6 3\/217)<\/strong> is a five-star recruit, with his recruitment down to Texas and the Huskers. He looks like a Longhorns win, but strange things happened on signing day. He would be the ultimate prize as the number one ranked athlete in the country, as he comes with a unique skill set that has been lacking at Nebraska for years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He would be the ultimate difference maker that Nebraska would need to be competitive in the Big Ten conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jackson Cantwell (6-7\/300lbs)<\/strong> is the number one offensive tackle in the country, so this would be a hard get for even the top programs in the nation, but Matt Rhule has not been afraid to throw his name in the ring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fact Rhule is even in the discussion is a significant sign, as every team in the country would jump at the chance to get a player of this caliber. Nebraska may not be winning right now, but with a healthy NIL, they are well-positioned for the future where money talks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
